Rotobrush Coil Cleaning: The Henderson Owner’s Guide
Rotobrush coil cleaning parts and service in Henderson typically run $140 to $320 installed, and we keep the common failure components on the truck so we can usually handle it in a single visit. Most owners discover the problem the same way: the brush head stops spinning under load, the coil housing starts rattling, or the shaft visibly wobbles where it enters the motor coupling. If you’re mid-job and the agitation feels weak, stop running the machine and call us at (775) 383-5847 before the coupling chews itself up. A coil that’s slipping today will be a stripped shaft tomorrow, and that’s a more expensive repair than catching it early.
Which Rotobrush Models This Applies To
Rotobrush has built several system generations over the years, and the coil assembly is not universal across all of them. The part you need depends on whether you’re running an older aiR+ model, the R500 series, the more recent R700/XR line, or a compact unit like the Mini. The gotcha we see most in Henderson: the coil housing diameter looks close between the R500 and R7 classes, but the shaft length and coupling keyway differ enough that forcing one into the other destroys the drive interface in under a minute of run time. Before calling, grab two measurements: the coil’s outer diameter in inches, and the shaft length from the housing face to the coupling tip. That takes about 30 seconds with a tape measure and settles the part match before we ever roll a truck. Rotobrush sells genuine OEM coils, and there are quality aftermarket equivalents from domestic suppliers that match or beat OEM spec for less money. The aftermarket coils we run are machined to the same tolerance and use the same drive geometry. We’ll tell you which one makes sense for your machine and your budget, in writing, before any work starts. Hollis Air Duct Henderson is an independent service provider, not a Rotobrush factory outlet, so we’re free to recommend the best part for the job, not the one with the logo markup.

Signs Your Rotobrush Coil Cleaning Is Failing
- The brush spins fine with no load but bogs down inside the duct. That’s the classic sign of coil fatigue. The spring steel has lost its torsional stiffness, so the coil flexes instead of transferring torque. In Henderson’s dry climate, coils also pick up fine gypsum dust from construction that works into the windings and accelerates wear.
- You hear a metallic ticking or slapping from the coil housing. A coil winding has cracked or separated and is now catching the housing wall on every rotation. Running it like this scores the housing bore and sends metal shavings into the duct you’re trying to clean.
- The coil shaft has visible wobble at the motor coupling. The coupling or the shaft end is worn out of round. Every minute of run time now puts side-load on the motor bearing, and the motor costs more than the coil ever will.
- The brush head won’t stay seated on the coil end. The retention clip or threaded tip has worn. This is the cheapest fix on the list if you catch it before the head comes off inside a duct run. If it comes off mid-run, you’re fishing parts out of someone’s return line.
- You’re getting less agitation per pass and finding yourself re-doing runs. That’s not technique. That’s a coil losing its spring constant. New coil, full agitation, one clean pass, done.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Henderson, a Rotobrush coil replacement typically lands between $140 and $320 installed, depending on your model and whether you want OEM or a quality aftermarket equivalent. The lower end covers a coil for the compact units and simpler shaft assemblies. The upper end is an OEM coil for the R7-class machines with a new coupling included. You get a written price before we touch anything, and that price covers the part, the install, and a bench test with your brush head mounted so you can see it run before we leave. No per-part add-ons, no “we found something else” upcharge at the door. The coil and install are covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if that coil fails within a year, we come back and make it right at no charge. Roy Castellanos has been servicing duct equipment across the Southwest long enough to know that a coil replacement is a 20-minute job when the part is right, and a two-hour headache when it isn’t. We stock it right.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check the serial plate on your machine, measure the coil diameter and shaft length, and inspect the coil windings for visible cracks or separation. That’s useful, and it helps us match the part before we arrive. What you shouldn’t do is run a machine with a suspect coil while you “see if it clears up.” A coil that throws a winding at speed is a projectile inside a metal housing, and if the housing is already scored or cracked, it can come apart. These machines run thousands of RPM at the brush head. That’s not a scare tactic, it’s physics. If the coil is already showing symptoms, call (775) 383-5847 and we’ll get the right part in your machine. As Roy puts it: if you can’t explain what you’re doing and why, you probably shouldn’t be doing it.
FAQs
In our experience across Henderson, a Rotobrush coil in regular commercial use lasts 18 to 36 months before torsional fatigue or winding separation shows up. Heavy use on long duct runs through older homes near Green Valley, where ducts are often narrower and filled with decades of packed debris, shortens that lifespan. If you’re running 4 to 6 jobs a week, plan on replacing the coil roughly every other year. Call (775) 383-5847 and we’ll inspect yours at no charge while we’re on site.
No. A cracked or fatigued coil winding cannot be reliably welded or re-tempered, and any shop that claims otherwise is handing you a part that will fail again soon. The spring steel in these coils is hardened at the factory. Once the temper is gone, the flex is gone with it.
Most coil replacements take 20 to 30 minutes on-site, including unmounting the old coil, installing the new one, and bench-testing with your brush head attached. If you’re in the middle of a job in Henderson, we can usually get you running the same day you call.
We stock common Rotobrush coil assemblies for the aiR+, R500, R7, and Mini lines on the truck, along with couplings and retention clips. For less common shaft lengths we can source the part same week from our distributor network. We also keep parts for Lennox, Trane, and Carrier systems, so if your duct cleaning machine shares components with those platforms, we can likely match it. Call (775) 383-5847 with your model number and the two measurements above, and we’ll confirm before you bring the machine in or before we roll out.
