Honeywell Vent Sanitizing: The Henderson Owner’s Guide
If you own a Honeywell UV air treatment system or electronic air cleaner and the sanitizing component has stopped working, we stock the replacement parts and install them for a flat written price, typically between $285 and $470 in Henderson depending on your model and bulb type. Most homes we service get the swap done in a single visit once we confirm the part number. The way owners usually find us is that the indicator light has gone dark, or a musty smell has crept back into the supply air even though the rest of the system is running.
Honeywell builds several vent sanitizing configurations, and they don’t all fail the same way. What matters is matching the right replacement to your exact unit, because a bulb that fits a UV2400 will not fit a UV100E, and the mounting hardware differs too. Roy Castellanos and our crew have pulled enough of these out of Henderson attics and plenums to know the difference blindfolded.
Which Honeywell Models This Applies To
The Honeywell vent sanitizing line we work on most in Henderson falls into two families. First, the UV100E series, which mounts directly to the duct or air handler and treats air as it passes across the bulb. Second, the UV2400 and UV2500 series, which are installed inside the return plenum and run continuous sanitation on the coil and surrounding surfaces. Some older Henderson homes still have Honeywell electronic air cleaners with UV modules piggybacked on, and those take a different bulb geometry again.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha that catches people: Honeywell changed the bulb base design between generations, so a replacement bulb listed as “Honeywell UV” on a generic parts site may not seat correctly in your housing. You need the bulb number off the existing component, usually printed on the ceramic base or the side of the aluminum housing. We carry OEM Honeywell bulbs for the UV100E and UV2400 series on the truck, along with a quality aftermarket equivalent for the most common lengths. If you’re trying to identify what you have, kill power to the unit and look for a white label with a seven-character part number starting with “500” or “UV.”

Signs Your Honeywell Vent Sanitizing Is Failing
- The indicator light is off or flickering. Honeywell units run a status LED that should hold steady when the bulb is getting correct voltage. A dark or flickering light usually means the bulb has reached end of life, or the ballast is starting to give out. Ballast failure is the second most common issue we see after burned-out bulbs.
- You smell the old odor returning. UV sanitizing systems knock back microbial growth on the coil and in the duct lining. When the bulb burns out, the biological material recovers within a few weeks in Henderson’s warm, dry climate, and the musty note comes back through the vents.
- The bulb looks blackened on the ends or shows white crust. UV bulbs darken near the terminals as they age. If you can see the bulb through the viewport or by removing the cover, dark gray or opaque glass means it’s finished.
- The system is more than 12 months old and has never been serviced. Honeywell bulbs in residential use typically run 9,000 to 12,000 hours, which works out to roughly one year to 18 months depending on how many hours your blower moves air each day. If you’ve never changed it, and the system is over a year old, assume it’s due.
- The breaker trips when the unit cycles on. A shorted ballast can trip the circuit. This one’s a safety issue, not just a maintenance item. You want a licensed eye on it the same day.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Henderson, replacing a Honeywell vent sanitizing component costs between $285 and $470 installed, parts included, with the exact number depending on your model and bulb type. The UV100E replacement bulb typically runs $285 to $340 installed. A UV2400 series with a new bulb and ballast runs $350 to $470. If you need a full housing replacement because the bulb seat is corroded or the wiring harness is shot, the job can run higher, and we’ll tell you the number before any work starts.
Every replacement includes the new OEM or equivalent component, a check of the ballast and socket, and a run test to confirm the unit is drawing correct power. The price is written before we open the panel, and it does not move. Hollis Air Duct Henderson is an independent service provider, not affiliated with Honeywell. The work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the part fails within a year, we come back at no charge, including a free second visit.
DIY or Call Us?
Let’s be direct: a UV sanitizing component runs on line voltage and sits in the path of your air handler. If you’re not comfortable working around 120-volt wiring and confirming a good ground, this is not the place to learn. A botched splice in the plenum is a fire risk, not a YouTube moment. Roy’s rule, and the rule our crew follows, is simple: if you can’t explain what you’re doing and why, you probably shouldn’t be doing it.
What you can safely do is identify the part, note the model number, and call us with that information. We’ll confirm the right replacement, give you a written price, and be at your door with the correct bulb and ballast on the truck. Most Henderson homes are one visit, done right, covered for a year. Call (775) 383-5847 and ask for the Honeywell UV swap.
FAQs
A Honeywell UV bulb lasts roughly 9,000 to 12,000 hours of runtime in a typical Henderson home, which translates to 12 to 18 months depending on blower use and whether the bulb is on a continuous or cycle-tied circuit. Henderson’s summer heat pushes systems to run longer blower hours, which shortens bulb life compared to milder climates. If you run the blower continuously for filtration, expect to change the bulb yearly. Call (775) 383-5847 and we’ll tell you if your unit takes the OEM bulb or a matching equivalent.
If the bulb is blackened or past its runtime, replacement is the only correct fix; the bulb is a consumable with no repairable internals. If the bulb looks fine but the unit is dark or flickering, the ballast is usually what failed, and that is replaceable as a separate part. We’ll diagnose before quoting: some Henderson homes need just a bulb, others a ballast, and you’ll see the written difference before we start work.
A standard Honeywell UV bulb and ballast replacement takes 40 to 70 minutes once we’re on site, including the power check, socket inspection, and a run test to confirm the unit is producing. Some Henderson homes have the sanitizer mounted in tight attic spaces that add a little time, and we’ll tell you that when we confirm the appointment. Call (775) 383-5847 for an exact window and a written price.
We keep OEM Honeywell bulbs and ballasts for UV100E and UV2400 series units on the truck, along with a quality aftermarket equivalent for the most common bulb lengths, so most Henderson jobs are done in one visit. For less common Honeywell configurations or older electronic air cleaner add-ons, we confirm the part number, order it, and schedule the return visit once it’s in hand. We also stock parts for Lennox, Trane, and Carrier systems, but Honeywell UV is the one we replace most often in this market.
